Brief
Rutherford Towers is a 13 storey tower block in Ealing, West London which was built in the 1960’s. Strip out commercial heating to 13 storey tower block on the Golf Links Estate. Renew central boiler plant, risers, new pipework and radiators to each unit. Re-wiring communal areas, maintaining existing boosted water supplies. Prior to sign off of design, held meetings to develop working scheme with client to ensure on going maintenance specifications were met. Resident to remain in occupation for the duration of the works. Final design costs had to match leaseholders informed costs as per section 20 notices.

Challenges
We have an in house team who carry out our design work. They have an intimate knowledge of how we work and the types of drawings & solutions that our clients require. For this project, there was substantial planning required to ensure that not only the commercial elements were maintained, but also, that no residential properties were left without heat or water.

This project is complete with Heating | Kitchens & Bathrooms being done all at the same time while the works were ongoing in the communal plant room:
- Residents were kept informed at every step
- The in-house design team were able to adapt to required changes quickly
- The in-house design team liaised with the project manager at every required point to ensure completion of the plant room works on time - this is crucial
- The drawings have also included the pipe works through the building
- The team successfully met the deadline of 4th October for shut down of old system and reinstatement of the new system prior to the critical autumn/winter period
